January 18, 2018 Special Assembly by Class III

Odisha formerly known as Orissa, is one of the 29 states of India, located in eastern India. It has 485 kilometres of coastline along the Bay of Bengal on its East. The region is also known as Utkala and is mentioned in India&rsquo s national anthem. Bhubaneshewar is the capital of Odisha and Odia is the official and most widely spoken language.
To acquaint everyone with the state Odisha, class III A presented an enlightening and fabulous assembly. The assembly began with the prayer thereby remembering God followed by news headlines, thought of the day and information about Odisha. The students further recited a poem on Odisha and the explanation of the festivals like Chandan Yatra, Rath Yatra and Chhau festival added to the knowledge of the students.The audience were enticed to know about personalities like Sudarshan Pattnaik, Sona Mohapatra , Jayanta Mahapatra and Naveen Patnaik from this state. The students were also amazed to know that the state hosts the world&rsquo s largest open air theatre- Dhanu Yatra, it was the first state to be formed on linguistic basis and April 1 is celebrated as Odisha Day (utkal divas) . Explanation of beautiful places like Jagannath Temple , Konark Sun Temple, Chilika Lake etc by the students was exceptionally captivating. The assembly concluded with the quiz.
