November 25, 2017 Special Assembly by Class IV

Meghalaya is a state in northeast India. The name means "the abode of clouds" in Sanskrit. 
Carved from the erstwhile State of Assam, Meghalaya became a full fledged State on January 21,1972. Bounded on the North and East by Assam and on the South and West by Bangladesh, Meghalaya is spread over an area of 22, 429 square kilometres.The state is the wettest region of India, recording an average of 12,000 mm (470 in) of rain a year.

Class IV B was privileged to present an assembly on the Theme: Meghalaya-the abode of clouds. The students with their sustained efforts touched some important aspects about the state in order to strengthen the knowledge of the audience.
Children vigorously spoke about the tradition which is to follow a matrilineal system, the culture which is so rich and diverse , delicacies which include a variety from spicy meat with rice and fish to Tungrymai ,which is a Khasi decicacy about the state. The throng was also acquainted with the life of some eminent personalities like Arundati Roy, the famous novelist, Mukul Sangma, the Chief Minister of the state thereby adding to their proficiency. Derogata, the folk dance of the state also enchanted the crowd. The assembly concluded with the Principal Madam&rsquo s words of appreciation for the young crusaders for putting in Strenuous efforts.
